We now have both the Pfizer and Moderna 2025-2026 COVID vaccines in the office. As I stated in the previous blog entry, everyone 65 and above is eligible for either vaccine, and they should be covered by your insurance company. The coverage for everyone else will depend upon the recommendations that come out from the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting September 18-19. The previous 17 members of this expert panel were unfortunately fired earlier this year, and the nine newly appointed members are generally more skeptical of vaccines. If the panel recommends the COVID-19 vaccine for certain groups, by law, insurance companies are required to cover them. If the panel does NOT recommend the vaccine for other groups, we will still be able to administer them to you. We will bill your insurance company, as many of them will still cover it, but if they eventually are not covered, they will cost $200 per vaccine.
If you happen to be in the Ximed building on a Wednesday (9 am-12pm and 2 pm-4:30 pm) or Friday (8:30 am-2 pm), you can just stop by the office without an appointment to get any vaccines. If you want to come in on a Monday, Tuesday or Thursday, please call us first.
